As an admin, you'll want to refer to the configuration page to set many of your school's preferences for using the software. We'll break down each section of this page, and it's options.
To get to this page, login to your admin account and go to Admin > General Settings > Configuration.
The first thing that you'll see is your school's account information. This includes your ftp information that is needed for automated file import. You'll also find your import key, which is needed for data import, and your school's license information, as to how many licenses for the software were purchased and how many are currently being used.
Notify Staff of Student Requests
Checking this box will mean that when a student makes a request to see a teacher, that teacher will receive an email notification.
This section allows to to 'freeze' current appointments for the current day. This will prevent any user from modifying current appointments, although any open appointment slots can still be scheduled. To learn more about this feature, check out the help article How to Freeze Appointments.
Block Dates Settings
With the checkboxes here, you can select if only Admins are able to block dates.
Each student in the application is assigned a graduation year. Here, you can set the graduation year range for students.
Most schools give their flex time a name unique to their school. Type in the label here to set your school's flex time name.
Setting up your school's time zone is important if you want to be able to send students calendar notifications that alert them about when they need to see their teachers. Learn more about this in the Push Notification System article.
Student Email Settings
By checking this box, you enable comments on a students schedule to be visible when the student is emailed their schedule. Left unchecked, their emailed schedule will not display comments.
Some school do not allow teachers to mark students as having cut class, instead they assign this task to admins. Check this box to hide the 'Cut' attendance type value from teachers when taking attendance.
Student Appointment Editor Settings
This section has a variety of settings that will impact students school wide. Here you can give permission for students to overwrite homeroom appointments teachers make with them, and set whether or not students need to provide a reason when self-scheduling. Next, choose the phrase that you want to be displayed in the students' Enriching Students account when they have no appointments scheduled. Then, you can choose how many days will be displayed at a time when students are viewing their weekly schedule. Many schools may choose 5, but if you have a variety of flex periods it could be helpful to make this a smaller number so students don't see so much information all at once. Last, you can check a box that will send parents a copy of their child's 5-day schedule email, whenever it is sent out. It's important to note that in order for this to work, the parent's email address must be entered on the Manage Students page for that particular student.
Starting Day for Scheduling
This will set the day of the week you want to have the Scheduling page start on. Many schools choose Monday, as then the Scheduling page would display Mon-Fri. But for schools that may use a rotation-type schedule, they may want the Scheduling page to display the week starting from another day, and can set that day here.
Checking the box under 'Staffers' will enable any staffer to overwrite a homeroom or advisory appointment without deleting it first.
Import Grade Settings
If your school uses the automated import grade feature, this is where settings for the import can be found. Choose the grade type your school wants to import, for example a letter or number grade. Then, you can set a 'grade warning.' This is the grade that your school begins marking as a 'struggling' grade.
A student with a grade at this level or below in any of their courses will display with that course in the 'Struggling Students' box on the dashboard. In addition, the course with this grade will be highlighted in yellow in the students 'Current Grades' box on their profile and the schedule details page.
